Benniksgaard Hotel is beautifully situated on the highest point in Rinkenaes at Flensborg Fjord and with Benninksgaard golf course as the nearest neighbour. The name Benniksgaard was known already in 1293 and at that time it was a family farm. The Bennick family owned it for 140 years and for several generations the oldest son whose name was alternately Hans and Peter inherited it. The fifth Peter Bennick died childless in 1749 and the new owners tore down the farm and built a beautiful new farm which is the present Benniksgaard. Today the owner is Mads Friis and all the buildings have undergone a thorough and very tasteful renovation. The rustic style with uncovered beams in the ceiling and bright colours create a light and inviting atmosphere. The old hen house has been turned into a reception and a restaurant. The largest barn is now a wing with 31 rooms. The old main building from 1782 has been turned into 10 large and beautiful rooms and suites. The old granaries and a newly added wing are now a number of functional premises for conferences and parties. The wing which formerly housed the agricultural machines is now the golf club. In the restaurant Pejsestuen the chefs prepare the evening menu using the best and to the widest possible extent ecological ingredients of the season.
