Birchleigh is the ideal place to stay for bed breakfast with a view to exploring all that Grange and the surrounding area has to offer, whether you are walking, cycling or just taking it easy. Birchleigh Guest house is situated in the centre of Grange over Sands. Grange is from the French “Graunge” which means granary. The monks of Cartmel Priory stored their grain here until the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry Vlll in 1536.The site can still be seen on the Main Street. The traffic free Promenade is the ideal place to take a leisurely stroll with a magnificent view across the bay to Arnside and Silverdale. You can enjoy a game of bowls, tennis or crazy golf. There you can also view the Prom Art exhibitions on the last Sunday in the month from April to September. Grange is ideally placed for all major routes to the Lakes. Nearby is the village of Cartmel with its shops and 11th century Priory. Horse racing takes place here at the May and August bank holidays. Many attractions take place during the year, Holker Hall Garden Festival,Cumbria Steam Gathering,Dales and Lakes Historic Vehicle Show, Grange Edwardian weekend and weekly brass band concerts in the bandstand park. Birchleigh has recently been refurbished to a very high standard, all rooms have en suite facilities with double walk in showers. Complimentary toiletries are provided. There are well stocked hospitality trays with fresh milk provided daily. All rooms have flat screen TVs, hairdryers and free Wi Fi. An iron and ironing board is available. Breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room, from a light breakfast of fresh fruit and cereals to a full English with all ingredients locally sourced. Overnight parking only available by arrangement. Birchleigh is close to the railway station and guests can be picked up free of charge.
