Bridge House, Beaminster is a charismatic, 13th Century former priests house with an excellent reputation for fine food and wines. The building simply oozes history and character with classic stone mullioned windows, beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplaces. Yet despite its age, the family run hotel, has been gently refurbished to give it a modern feel without sacrificing its patina. The Lounge and Bar are in the oldest part of the building and are simply perfect to help you wind down. There is a choice of dining areas from the stunning Georgian paneled restaurant through to the Old Conservatory overlooking the beautiful walled garden. Private dining and breakfast takes place in the large Sun Room while al fresco dining occurs in the garden during the summer months. The Bridge House has a fine reputation for food, making the most of West Dorsets plethora of organic, local suppliers. Cooking style is uncomplicated and English, all beautifully presented. Recently, the hotel has become a popular venue for weddings with the acquisition of a civil wedding license. The hotel may be 600 years old, but it is full of the most up to date technology and products; Wi-Fi, internet and flat screen TVs, some widescreen are available in all bedrooms along with direct dial and digital telephones. The hotel has also served local businesses well with its less formal conference facilities. The Bridge House also takes immense pride in its finest Egyptian cotton linen by Frette as well as quality products such as Molton Brown in all the bathrooms. Owner/managers, Mark and Joanna Donovan, also ensure that every guest receives personal attention where nothing is too much trouble.
