Design Hotel des Francs Garcons is a well-preserved historic building on the outside, but on the inside you’ll find sophisticated public spaces organized by levels, stairs, and dramatic lighting effects. A few highlights include the reception room with a chair-mail chandelier and a black fireplace; a bar made of azul valverde; and a dining room furnished with Arper chairs from Italy. The hotel is located on the corner of the rue des Francs Garcons, which was a favourite residential area for local bachelors in the Middle Ages. It’s within walking distance of the village’s medieval tower, the market street, and restored houses from the 14th and 15th centuries; in the old parish cemetery, sarcophagi have been found from the Carolingian period. Saint-Sauvant is located between the cities of Saintes and Cognac on National Route 141 (N141).
