Make Druk-My-Niet part of your travel through the Cape Winelands. These self-catering apartments provide comfortable Paarl accommodation on a historic wine farm. Druk-My-Niet is a 24 hectare/59.3 acre farm, part of an estate granted to a French Huguenot in 1692. The farm buildings are some of the oldest in the Paarl valley; the original cellar has become an 80 tonne boutique winery. The estate is home to the South African couple who own it, their dogs, and several race horses. Guests share use of the outdoor swimming pool with views of the valley. Upon request, breakfast can be arranged at a neighbouring bed and breakfast, subject to charges. This wine estate is halfway between Wellington and Paarl, on the slopes of Du Toits Kloof Mountain. Besides being the former headquarters of the wine industry in South Africa, the KWV, Paarl is also known as the birthplace of the Afrikaans language. The Afrikaans Language Museum (Die Afrikaanse Taalmuseum) and the Afrikaans Language Monument (Taalmonument) both celebrate the heritage of the language. Visitors can see a mixture of Victorian, Edwardian, Cape Dutch, and Art Deco architecture on the Paarl Main Road and massive granite rock formations at Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve. For more outdoor recreation, hike the Takbok Eco-trail south of Paarl or the Du Kloof Eco-trail in the Haweqwa Nature Reserve.
