Higher Faugan Built in 1904 as the family home of artists Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes. Reopened in 08 after a 6 year refurbishment with the addition of 4 suites in the north wing originally the artist studio, no longer a full service hotel, now providing accommodation only, simply more than a room offering unpretentious comfort, suites are designed for 2 but will sleep up to 4 utilising sofa beds, they include king size beds, sofa's, LCD TV's, en-suite bathrooms with bath and shower, mini kitchens include refrigerator, microwave, toaster, teacoffee making, allowing guests the freedom to rise at whatever time they wish and cater the complementary continental breakfast provided at times to suit themselves, those requiring alternatives to that supplied (see picture in gallery) or special diets are welcome to provide their own contents. Standard, Classic or superior en-suite rooms also available. free parking. Registered helipad. No Restaurant or public rooms, large lawn for guest use. Not suitable for children under 3, all suites and rooms serviced daily. Although not essential a car is recommended. The house remained his home until his death in the late 40s. (1857 Dublin -1947 Newlyn, Cornwall), Forbes was an artist and member of the then influential Newlyn school of painters. He was originally married to fellow painter Elizabeth Adela Stanhope Forbes (1859-1912) Much of his work can be seen at the Penlee Gallery in Penzance. The house is approached by a 500 metre long driveway, situated in large Private grounds (with lawn for guest use) in a very quiet and peaceful location, ideally situated for all pursuits, close to many stunning beaches such as lamorna and Porthcurno, and of course Mounts Bay for those keen on wind and water sports.
