Marostica is a cozy medieval town completely encircled by the walls of its castles, which appears designed more for decoration than defence. Entering in Piazza Castello, the first impression is to be in a historical and magical world. From the ruined Upper Castle on top of the hill, the walls run down to enfold the little town below, where a gigantic chessboard lays out in the main square. Here, in the even numbered years, the world famous Chess Game is played with human-size chess. For this big festival, the town is filled with more than 600 people dressed in medieval clothes. Hotel Due Mori is the only hotel within the medieval walls and it's just a few steps from the famous Chess Square. It was an auberge for 250 years and it's recently been renovated with an elegant and breathtaking modern taste. It is a Design Hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms for businessmen and leisure travelers. Furnished with a particular attention to the details, it offers air conditioning, TV Sat.. minibar, radio, direct dial telephone, computer modem hook-up and wi-fi internet connection. All the rooms have bath and shower with natural stone floor and hair dryer. Some rooms have a wonderful view on the medieval burg and on the castles. Situated in the foothills, just half an hour's drive from Vicenza and a few minutes away from Bassano del Grappa and the most important cultural cities of the region, Marostica is the ideal location for people traveling for culture and enjoy spending a few days in the natural landscape. All the Veneto region can be reached easily: Venice is just one hour distance by train, Verona and the Garda Lake are at about 100 km, Padua and Treviso are at less than 50 km.
