Owned and managed by an American/Italian couple, Hotel Milano was originally a monastery dating back to the 19th century, located in the pleasant spa village of Salice Terme. Hotel Milano aims at being your ideal base for a relaxing stay and is the perfect spot for families travelling with children. Situated in the centre of the village, Hotel Milano has a large private park with swimming pool, an outdoor bar and is only 100 meters from the spa complex. Stroll through the village and enjoy the many ice-cream parlours, cafes and restaurants; practice your favourite sport in the many nearby venues (swimming, golf, cycling etc.). For those who have seen Rome, been to Venice and done Florence, this is the true Italy, yet to be discovered by tourists. Salice Terme (spa) was known and appreciated by the Romans for its curative waters, still today among the richest in hydrogen sulphide. Italians and tourists come to Salice to relax but also to be healed. The sulphur water is well known for therapeutic effectiveness. Salice was the first place where iodine was discovered in the water and the area's iodine mud therapies are curative for a veritable host of illnesses. Treatments with the sulfur and bromide water in mist or liquid form are for: ears, nose and throat; gynecology; dermatology; physical rehabilitation. Salice Terme is situated in the Oltrepo. To best savour the wide range of local wines, the Oltrepo has a rich gastronomic tradition. The closest train station is Voghera, where the public bus connects directly to Salice Terme and Hotel Milano in 20 minutes. Voghera has direct train connections to/from Milano, Torino, Genova, and Bologna.
