Four Wingates is set in the lovely hamlet of Wingates 6 miles South of Rothbury and 4 miles West of Longhorsley. The cottage, built in 1850, is set within a quarter acre garden with woodland behind. The accommodation is spacious, and has recently been refurbished, and kept in a style appropriate for the age of the cottage, There are glorious views over the countryside. You can step out of the door into beautiful walking country. Birds, red squirrels,hares, deer and wildlife abound. This stunning countryside area is exceptionally good for walking, cycling, fishing and wild-life spotting and is also close to the beautiful beaches of Northumberland. The cottage sleeps three people in a double and a single bedroom. Additionally there is a double bed-settee downstairs . The new kitchen has a fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, electric cooker, and ironing facilities. Storage heaters and a wood burning stove heat the cottage. TV, DVD and radio are in the lounge, from which views are glorious. A lockable shed is available for bikes. Wingates is close to the Coast, Simonside, Cheviot Hills and the National Park. National Trust properties of Cragside, Wallington Hall and Holy Island and Lindisfarne are within easy reach. Northumberland, with its battle - steeped history, has a wealth of ancient castles to explore at Alnwick, Bamburgh,Walkwoth, Dunstanburgh and Norham. Hadrians Wall is within about an hour of our cottage as is Berwick's ancient walled town. Edinburgh is about an hour's journey away. Older still are sites of Ancient history of great archaelogical significance. Many amenities are on your door step, or a short drive away. Alnwick and Morpeth have great shopping and sporting amenities. Newcastle -upon Tyne and Gateshead are 45 minutes away for museums, exhibitions, the Metro Centre, The Sage Music Centre and The Royal Theatre where you can catch Shakespeare or the Royal Opera visits Hotel Rating: Visit Britain 4 star
