In the heart of Reggio Emilia historic centre, close to Cathedral, Town Hall, theatres, most important cinemas, shops, restaurants, banks and offices, the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo (Hotel POsta) is a medieval building, symbol of our town, which boasts a five centuries'tradition in ospitality. Before being converted into a hotel, called Locanda del Cappello Rosso in 1515, it was the seat of the People's Captain in the 14th Century and the residence of Sigismondo d'Este in the 15th Century. Today, the old inn has become an elegant, cosy 4 star hotel where the different changes in function and the various architectural restorations have left their sign resulting in an impressive pleasant mixture of styles. This fascinating influence of the different centuries can easily be appreciated entering its 32 bedrooms and 10 suites, the 14th Century Assembly Hall which is now a conference room. The breakfast room whith its early 20th Century stucco columns, the lounge and little bar downstairs with their lacquered furniture from a 19th Century confectioner's shop.
