Classification: 4 Star Hotel

Business hours of reception: 24 hours Sant’Angelo Luxury Resort ****sis placed in the enchanting rocky scenery of the Sassi of Matera. The hotel is the result of a great restoration process that involved cave-dwellings, buildings, stairs, narrow streets and courtyards thus creating a new concept of hotel...the "scattered hotel" or simply "albergo diffuso". The great work of the Italian interior designer Stefano Tardito, gave elegance and charm to this unique location and marked the idea of eco chic hospitality, new in its genre. Hotel Sant'Angelo Luxury Resort ****s is made up of 16 historical cave dwellings, each with an average surface area of 50 m² that correspond with other cave dwellings, whose interiors have been divided into various dwellings with living rooms. We have 21 rooms and they can host up to 45 people. They are furnished with a private bath, a telephone, satellite TV, air-conditioning, a safe and mini-bar. Our hotel layout is aligned in rows, lending itself to a typical neighbourhood that overlooks courtyards and small town squares and are distributed onto different levels and connected by stairways. The restaurant is to be found on the top floor and is made up of 2 connecting halls with 2 independent entrances. It has a warm, rustic atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the local specialties. Our 2 bars and furnished panoramic terraces are also at your disposal. Our hotel is situated in Matera, which is the city of the Sassi (prehistoric troglodyte settlements), with charming ancient districts, which are an example of a unique and complex urban structure and has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Matera is also host to over 100 rock churches, a testimony of the Greek-Byzantine monastic civilizations, which held a significant influence.
