All 25 rooms of the inn are individually furnished with due respect for the original style and named after Danish castles and manors. The rooms; some of which have a bath tub; are situated in the inn itself and in three surrounding listed houses with window bars and their own garden. The inn has a number of special offers; e.g. golf stays; gourmet days; stays with Sort Sol and Royal including champagne and a 10-course surprise menu. The inn is situated in the new National Park Wadden Sea where; among other things; you may experience Sort Sol with the fantastic formations of thousands of starlings. Schackenborg Slotskro is situated in the idyllic village Moegeltoender with its cobble-stoned castle street; which without comparison must be Denmarks most beautiful main street. The inn has been royally licensed since 1678; and today it is run as a limited company with His Royal Highness Prince Joachim and the far-famed Aabenraa ship-owner Hans Michael Jebsen as shareholders. Moegeltoender is situated in the wide-spreading marshlands at the Wadden Sea; and the little village with its 900 inhabitants is like a fairytale. Here the ducks are wandering about in the streets in the daytime; and in the evening the old street lamps shine softly on the thatched houses and farms many of which date way back to the beginning of the 1700s. The nearest neighbour of Schackenborg Slotskro is Schackenborg Castle; which belongs to His Royal Highness Prince Joachim and his family. The history of the castle goes way back to the 1200s and at this time it belonged to the bishop of Ribe. After the Reformation in 1536 the king owned it but the king handed over the castle to General Hans Schack in 1661 and thereafter it belonged to 11 generations of the Schack family. Since 1995 the castle is where Queen Margrethes youngest son has lived as a farmer together with Princess Marie and the three sons Nicolai Felix and Henrik.
