This Welsh guest house offers easy access to the Bangor on Dee Racecourse and is approx. a 1 hour drive from the Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre at Betws y Coed. The Stableyard, built in approx. 1630, has been continuously offering lodgings since 1986, making it the oldest accommodation in Bangor on Dee. The centrally heated rooms have a traditional charm, with exposed timbers and compatible furnishings. Several self catering cottages are located in the Stableyard’s cobbled courtyard. Breakfast is served in the residents’ dining room. The village of Bangor on Dee (called Bangor-is-y-Coed or Bangor Isycoed in Welsh) is best known as the home of thoroughbred horse racing at the Bangor on Dee Racecourse. It’s also a great location from which to launch outdoor adventures into Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri in Welsh). Hiking, cycling, horse riding, and whitewater rafting are all popular in this immense protected area, 72 km/44.7 miles to the west of Bangor on Dee. From the Stableyard, it’s a short drive to the major town of Wrexham, home of St. Giles’ Church, and Erddig Hall, a National Trust property.
