Spa Details Thermae Sylla Spa Wellness Hotel is located on the north of the island of Evia in the famous spa town of Edipsos, only 2.5 hours (by car and ferry) from Athens. The history of the town goes back thousands of years; the 'Herculian Thermae' is mentioned by Plutarch, Aristotle and Strabo as the place where Hercules visited in order to regain his powers. The town also flourished during the Roman occupation when it was used as a resort by prominent Romans. In this area the Spa of Syllas, a famous Roman General, was built. Thermae Sylla Spa, a resort dedicated to the use of the thermal waters to treat medical disorders was founded in 1897 in the most beautiful location of the town. Today it is a combination of an ultra-modern Spa-centre and a luxurious hotel. The Edipsos thermal water springs have therapeutic and rejuvenating qualities. They are natural springs with water coming up from a depth of 3,000 metres at a temperature of 75oC. A group of these springs is located within the Thermae Sylla Spa Wellness Hotel where the water is the basis for the treatments at the spa centre which offers a combination of traditional and modern spa treatments for a wide range of therapeutic and rejuvenating treatment programmes. Under the supervisition of medical professionals and qualified personnel therapeutic programmes are available for the treatment and relief from muscular pain, in particular for the neck and back, arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatological problems and disorders of the pulmonary system.
