This is very unique accommodation featuring Japanese age-old furnitures and decoration of the Edo era. It exists not only as an accommodation but it is like an antique museum where you can see many Japanese folk arts everywhere. The hot springs at Yakushi Onsen Hatago were first discovered by pilgrims during the Edo era. The water comes from a deep vein that has naturally formed in the crust of the earth. It consistently provides heat through geothermal activity. It is really interesting and unique place to stay during your holiday. (0908 YT) Seseragi-kan rooms are all in traditional Japanese style with private toilet and wash-basin. The unit consists of Tatami floor (straw mats) room and irori-no-ma (living room with fireplace). There is no bed facility of Western product. By night, the room is transformed with Japanese futons into a sleeping area by room-maid. All rooms feature Japanese antiques furniture and objects from far back Edo era. They are displayed in their natural working environments, and provide the historical feeling of the place in quiet peaceful atmosphere. Each guest room has its private toilet and wash-basin but no bathroom or shower facility. Instead the hotel has a few of small hot spring rooms which can be chartered by a couple or small party as well as big hot spring public bathrooms. Reservation upon arrival is required for the chartered private bathroom. The house specialty is irori-kaiseki cuisine which is prepared and cooked on a traditional Japanese-style fireplace set in the center of the floor. Japanese breakfast and Japanese dinner will be provided at their dinning space, if included in plan. For group guests, Japanese style banquet rooms are also available. It is a kind of Japanese traditional house style settlement, compounded from several traditional houses with thatched roof. The lobby is placed in a house, called Honjin. It is large in size with a small reception impressive thatched-roof, large floor-to-ceiling windows and a large irori counter. The lounge and souvenir shop are located in the same house.
